2019-2020 PFC UPPERGRADE CLUBS
Math Club will be run weekly on Wednesdays from 2-3 pm. It provides students with an interest in excelling in math an opportunity to hone and sharpen their skills and practice for competitions like Math Counts. Please check the flyer for more details. Chess Club will run weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30-4 pm. Parent volunteers will supervise while students get a chance to practice their skills for participation in local and statewide chess competitions. Students who are beginners or want to improve their chess skills and want to participate in the club and competitions are encouraged to sign up for the DPIE 6-8 Chess class. The Science of Disease
Club will meet twice a month on Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30 PM
The Science of Disease is a PFC enrichment program that will give interested eighth graders an in-depth look at the fields of neuroscience, molecular genetics, and epidemiology. It includes a student-directed project and honest talk about Dublin High and selective college admissions. For program overview please check this document.
Speech and Debate Team
We are all excited and ready to start our Debate Club/Team on Sep 27th. It will be a 12 week program (every other Friday) for 75 mins each.
9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/8, 12/6, 12/13, 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/6, 3/20
Kids will learn different formats of debating, structuring constructive and rebuttal speeches and will have an opportunity to do Mock Tournaments in the class.
In order for PFC to run this program we require couple of parents to volunteer and supervise the Debate team meetings.
We need 2 more parents to commit to volunteering and can take turns attending the meetings. You will need to complete the Live Scan clearance form and make the associated payment. You can submit the receipts to the PFC for reimbursement along with a Reimbursement Form available on the PFC website or in the school office. Please volunteer by emailing at email@example.com.
Every child’s family needs to email with their child's name and an emergency contact number for us to call in the event of an emergency.
Girls Who Code
Girls Who Code will meet weekly on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30 pm. GWC is a national nonprofit organization building the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the country. Their program trains students to participate in coding fairs, Hour of Code challenges and more. See flyer for more details. Starts 9/12 in B202.
Creative Writing Club
Creative Writing Club is run by the National Society of Arts and Letters and will meet the first Thursday of the month for two hours from 3-5pm. It will be a great opportunity for budding writers to learn how to harness your creative energy and to communicate it to the world. Work on your writing and share with other writers in a safe creative space. See flyer for more details.
